This circular walk through Roslin Glen and it's pretty village, follows the River North Esk and takes in the impressive Rosslyn Chapel (made famous by The Da Vinci Code) and Roslin Castle plus an array of wildlife and wildflowers along the way.
Most visitors go to see the famous Rosslyn Chapel with its walls covered in ornate stone carvings. Not many take the time to venture down the hill into Roslin Glen. Buried away in the woods, above a loop in the River Esk is the outstanding Roslin Castle which remains hidden from sight until the last moment. It just looks like a bridge to a small cottage among a few crumbling walls. But walk under that impressive bridge instead of over it and you’re rewarded with the rest of Roslin Castle, built right into the side of the rock.
This circular walk can be both muddy and slippery.
Boots and Walking Poles are advised.
Please text the Walk Leader 24 hours in advance if you wish to join the walk. It helps to plan the car sharing.
