Overview

A moderate circular walk, mostly good paths with a little road-walking. One very short, steep section into Bilston Woods. Walk along the old railway line to Loanhead then across open countryside to Wadingburn and Lasswade Old Kirk and Graveyard (coffee stop here). Follow the North Esk, taking a short detour to Mavisbank House (lunch stop here). Rejoin the North Esk, skirting Polton and continuing through Bilston Woods to rejoin the old railway track back to Roslin. A number of interesting historical features, including the Battle of Roslin monument, Lasswade Old Kirk and Mavisbank House.
