Once parked up today's walks could take you south, and around Rudyard Lake, or alongthe Staffordshire Moorlands Way, which runs North to South. Along with the Gritstone Trail going Northwest to Danebridge, and the top end of The Roaches via the Dane Valley Way, there is a good range of varied walking opportunities for our leaders today. And, with two pubs in the village refreshments after your walk today should not be a problem.
Three walks will be available with details circulated on the coach. They will range from easy to strenuous depending on the walk selected.
"A" Walk Leader - Dave White - 11.8 miles with around 700ft of ascent. Starting near the village of Lyme Green we join the canal towpath south to Bosley Locks. Then turn towards Congleton before heading east to Rushton Spencer. As A Walks go this is an easy one.
"B" Walk Leader - Chris Grayson - 8 easy miles with negligable climbing. We leave the village by the Royal Oak pub annd head for the River Dane. Crossing it at Barleighford Bridge. Then join the Gritstone Trail to Wincle Grange. Then on to the village of Danebridge. The return to Rushton Spencer is via the riverbank and canal towpath.
"C" Walk Leader - John Slatcher Around 6.5 miles with just two short climbs. Heading south along the old railway line past Rudyard Reservoir to then cross over the dam before turning north along the Staffordshire Way back to the start.
