This is a circular walk from Allerston via Ebberston, Chafer Wood (nature reserve) and Givendale. The walk gives good views over the Vale of Pickering and Yorkshire Wolds from countryside to the south of Dalby Forest. Walking is on good paths and forest tracks. There's a bus service from Scarborough and Helmsley. See details below for meeting point, bus and parking.

You'll need to allow 5-10 mins to walk from the bus stops/parking down to Water Gap. Look for a track next to the Chapel, you'll find picnic benches behind that.
It's a moderate walk climbing steadily above Ebberston in the morning and descending gently through the forest from Givendale Head in the afternoon. Paths are good, but can be muddy in places, so boots needed. There are some fallen trees on route.
Dogs welcome, on short lead for entire walk. There is livestock in fields and stiles to go over.
