The walk consists of 2 loops both starting and finishing at Sandy Haven.
The first loop leads westwards for a distance of 3 miles includes a short road section, farmland and then along the coast from the radar station to Sandy Haven. The estuary at Sandy Haven is crossed twice at low tide.
The second and longer loop leaves the Sandy Haven car park at 11.30 and allows a chance for people wishing to do a shorter walk . This section is 6 miles long and crosses farmland which was originally owned by the Esso refinery. Since the closure of the refinery the original farmland and footpath has been reinstated. The walk also skirts the first hole of the Milford Haven golf club and leads to Gelliswick Bay. The return section is along the coastal path back to Sandy Haven.
