From Settle we will follow the Dales High Way taking quite a hard initial climb past Attermire Scar. We stop for a early lunch on the slopes of Kirkby Fell admiring the views down the valley before dropping down into Malham village and heading south along the Pennine Way over Windy Pike before an optional refreshment stop at Airton Farm shop. Leaving Airton we have a pleasant couple of miles alongside the River Aire before another uphill stretch by the side of Haw Crag before dropping down to Gargrave.
This is a linear walk so if coming by car, park in Gargrave and catch the 8:32 train to Settle. If parking in one of the car parks in Gargrave bear in mind that the station is a good half mile away.
