We park the coach in Whitefriars Coack Park, with whilst the walks today could take us along the Dales Way or the Ribble Way. Wherever you go today this market town in the Yorkshire Dales has numerus pubs and cafes available for refreshments afterwards, with The Olde Naked Man Cafe one of the most well-known.
Three walks will be available with details circulated on the coach. They will range fromeasy to strenuous depending on the walk selected.
A Walk Leader - Dave Trembath - 10.5 miles with 1650ft of ascent. Known as the Settle Loop the walk starts with a climb onto the Dales Highway and into the Yorkshire Dales National Park. The route is across limestone outcrops and along winding lanes. Past various caves and joins the Pennine Bridleway for the return to Settle.
B Walk Leader - Janet Loines - A circular walk of around 8 miles with 1276ft of ascent. Following the Dales Highway to Attermire Scar, passing Warrendale Knotts Victoria Cave and Jubilee Cave. After lunch we continue to Catrigg Force waterfall, returning to Settle via Stainforth and Longcliffe, visiting the impressive Hoffemam Lime Kiln on the way.
C Walk Leader - Dave Eccles - 6.5 miles with a total ascent of 780ft. Heading north towards Lancliffe along the Ribble Way/Dales Highway, then a gradual climb before reaching the Pennine Way. This leads us into Upper Settle and it's narrow streets and 16th century houses. It is more or less downhill from here back into Settle.
