Overview

Starting with one of the lesser used routes out of Sevenoaks that passes around Knole Park and provides views of the North Downs, this fast paced walk starts along the north side of the Greensand Ridge, but takes on some different routes compared to my previous walk around here (National Trust Circular Part 1), including then exploring much more of the area around Shipbourne, such as the Fairlawn Estate, Clearhedges Wood and Dene Park, where the woodland autumnal colours should be out in full force. The walk then joins the southern side of the Greensand Ridge and returns back to Sevenoaks via a lesser used route into and through Knole Park.

Bring a packed lunch. The lunch stop will be at around the halfway point on the green outside the Kentish Rifleman pub at Dunks Green with time to also go into the pub for a drink. The walk passes Ightham Mote twice for toilet stops - anyone with a National Trust membership, please bring your card to scan at the machine - it is the least we can do in exchange for using their toilets!

There are some reasonable hills during the first and final quarters of the walk, with a total ascent of just over 650 metres. Plenty of pubs and restaurants to choose from in Sevenoaks town centre at the end of the walk.

Transport: Take the 9:34 from London Charing Cross (Waterloo East 9:37, London Bridge 9:43), arrive at Sevenoaks at 10:07. Buy a return to Sevenoaks.
