This will be a gentle stroll through this national nature reserve, on a mixture of tracks and footpaths.
The Common is home to a wide variety of plants and animals due to its mix of wet and dry heathland. Keep an eye out for the longhorn cattle, wild and hardy Hebridean sheep and Exmoor ponies which graze the common, plus a herd of wild fallow and roe deer.
During WW2, the area was part of RAF Riccall, and we will walk along some of the old runways, the bomb storage areas, and see the RAF memorial.
🅿️ There is on-street parking along Main Street, Skipwith – please park responsibly, and car-share where possible. Meet on the village green.
🐶 Dogs are welcome, but must remain on lead at all times as this is a nature reserve.
