Overview

We leave Smokies Way car park and make our way over Gillow Heath and towards Mount Pleasant before ascending meadows and tracks to Nick I’ th’ Hill. We walk through Willocks wood before following the Staffordshire Way and Gritstone Trail along the edge and down past Congleton Golf course where we join the Biddulph Valley Way towards Biddulph. On reaching the approach to Higher Whitemoor farm those wishing to make this a 5.9 mile walk simply follow the Biddulph Valley Way back to the car park. Those wanting a longer 7.8-mile walk will back track along the main road a while before looping up past Old Biddulph Hall and the Talbot before re-joining the Biddulph Valley way at Bailey’s Bank.
