Join us for a walk from the historical formerly industrial town of Snaith across fields to the Aire and Calder Navigation and the quiet village of Pollington, former home of the RAF base of Snaith.
The walk length is 8.5 miles, but the terrain is undemanding: very flat. There is quite a lot of road walking, but mainly on very quiet roads. Otherwise on farm tracks and some rougher footpaths. There is only one stile. Toilet facilities, unfortunately, are limited. Lunch will be on the bank of the canal.
There are information boards en route explaining the history of the area.
Note: We use a booking system in case of last-minute changes to the walk details or for Illness, weather or car parking etc. Please book a place by contacting the walk Leader on 07821055081, or via email (ann918@btinternet.com). Although we do accept walkers on the day.
Sorry no dogs.
The free car park is at the station, but is unsignposted. Approach Snaith from the Selby Road, cross the level crossing and take the first turn on the left. This is indicated as a dead end. The car park is then the next opening on the left. It is not marked "car park".
