Walk details

Starting outside Braziers Park following the social, we will at first pass along quiet country lanes and through woodland. We'll stop in Stoke Row to admire the impressive Maharajah's Well. After that, we'll head south past Wyfold Court and across Kingwood Common before finishing outside the Unicorn pub at Rotherfield Peppard. This is the terminus of Reading Buses route 25 to central Reading, which we will use to get home. If there is a long wait for the bus, we can wait in the adjacent pub.

Travel details

By public transport

If you plan to attend the snowdrop tea social at Braziers Park, please follow the transport directions for that event.

If you do not plan to attend the snowdrop tea social at Braziers Park, but wish to attend the walk only, you will need to catch the Thames Travel X40 bus at 11.37am from stop SB in Station Road in central Reading. As he will be at the social, the walk leader will not be on this bus. Braziers Park Turn is the first stop after Woodcote – ask the driver if you are unsure. After alighting from the bus, you will need to cross the road and walk approximately 1/3 of a mile east along Braziers Park Lane to reach the walk start point.

By car

It is recommended that car drivers park in Reading and use the buses to and from the start and finish of the walk.

Notes

  • Please bring a packed lunch and a drink.
  • It might be muddy – please wear suitable footwear.
  • Please feel free to contact the leader with queries about the walk, or if you are delayed on the day.
