Overview

The walk starts at Stanmore station,and into Stanmore Country park where it climbs to one of the highest points in Middx (152mts) giving views over London .From here it drops to Heriots Wood passing the oldest tree in Middx, The Master Oak, and Summerhouse lake. The walk then climbs to 140mts into Harrow Weald woods ,and passes through the back garden of W.S.Gilbert's house (now a hotel).From here it descends across the common to Hatch End station. Nearby there is a Wetherspoon pub where the leader will lunching ,and would welcome your company.

 A hilly ,and muddy walk of 6.5miles. Bring some plastic bags to put over your boots to go into the pub ,or bring alternative footwear. Toilets at Stanmore station.
