From Llanthony priory we climb Cwm Bwchel & reaching the ridge continue on down a little used path, rough and boggy at times. We reach an un-adopted road and follow this gradually down the valley until reaching a Baptist chapel. From here it is a short climb to St Issui's with its wooden carved screen & painting of 'Doom'. We pass/visit St Issui's well then up the other side to reach the lower slopes of Gaer for a break. We then follow Gaer Road to Cwmyoy with a short climb to St Martin's with its crooked walls and leaning tower. Leaving the church we then start our final climb steadily on to Hatterrall Hill to meet the Beacons Way for our return to the priory.
This walk includes three steep climbs which will hopefully reveal distant views.
Bring packed lunch, snacks & plenty of water/fluids to drink.
Walking boots recommended.
Please text the leader if you wish to join this walk.
