A leisurely spring walk along the Thames and the Wey footpaths over countless bridges through green meadows and past houseboats, chalets and opulent riverside mansions. This is a lovely walk with plenty of historic interest. Discover the history of D'Oyly Carte Island, the dangerous creature which lived on it, the posts with a connection to the City of London and why Pharaoh's Island was given that name.
This was Guildford Ramblers' most popular Saturday walk last year - with 25 walkers. Can we beat that number this year? It is easy, flat walking, just steps up and down one bridge, no stiles and usually only one muddy patch. Please bring a picnic lunch, but provided we keep a reasonable pace there will be a café near where we stop for lunch.
