The Three Castles Path is a 60 mile trek from Windsor Castle to Winchester Great Hall. The Path is based on the 13th Century journeys of King John around the time of the Magna Carta. It is so named as it passes the castles of Windsor, Odiham, and Winchester. Sadly, only Windsor Castle remains intact to the present day, with Odiham Castle currently a ruin and Winchester Castle destroyed completely with the Great Hall marking its location. We take a 6 part journey retracing history - our journey will pass the towns of New Alresford, Hartley Wintney, Ascot, Sandhurst and Bracknell as well as numerous villages.
We start Part 3 from Crowthorne station towards Horseshoe Lake where we will take our first coffee break at the Italian café. After refreshment, we will make our way through the Moor Green Lakes Nature Reserve towards Eversley and Warren Heath where we will have lunch.
Once we have passed Warren Heath, we will make our way into Hartley Wintney and our end point at Winchfield station, concluding Part 3.
If coming from Reading, please get the 10:24 arriving at Crowthorne at 10:38. If this train is delayed, the start of the walk will also be delayed. Trains run regularly from Winchfield, taking an hour to get back to Reading (change at Basingstoke).
