Overview

The walk leader is Phil Featherstone, if you have any questions about the walk please call Phil on tel. 07753 682575.

This is a walk taking a high level  northerly route along part of the Calderdale way. It is mainly over open moorland coupled with field paths and some road walking.  There are stiles along the way and  a couple of narrow slab bridges over streams
The route takes us via Cross Stone, Great Rock, Blackshaw Head, Hebble Hole and Heptonstall.
There are one or two steepish climbs and a pull up some steps. The walk is approximately 7.5 miles to Hebden Bridge with an optional additional 4 mile walk back along the canal for those not wishing to spend some time in Hebden.
There are no refreshments or toilets available along the route but there are cafés and pubs in Hebden Bridge at the end of the walk.

The walk will start at 10.30 from Todmorden Town Hall ( grid ref SD 9324) allowing time to meet the 09.57h train from Manchester Victoria (please check train times).

There is a train  service between Manchester, Todmorden and Hebden Bridge.  For those traveling by car there is ample parking in Todmorden and a bus service back from Hebden Bridge.

It is dog friendly. It is not wheelchair accessible nor pushchair friendly and would not be suitable for young children.

Please note it may be necessary to alter the route if there has been heavy rainfall a day or so before
