Arranged at short notice this is a ramble around a beautiful local ancient village with the oldest cruck cottage in Europe, starting from the Village Memorial Hall opposite the historic St Lucia's Church (if open we can see some original wall paintings.) The walk will follow the self guided walk in Shrewsbury Ramblers' book "20 More Walks around Shrewsbury". We wander across fields (NB expect some to be muddy after all the recent rain), through woods, along quiet lanes, and should see some beautiful views over the Shropshire Plain and local hills. Much of the route is on our premier County Trail The Shropshire Way.
Please dress for the weather, heavy showers are forecasted. Bring packed lunch and drink. Although much of the walk is fairly flat and will be at a leisurely pace, there is one short climb up a steep incline on Haughmond Hill, (you can do this at your own pace). Car share is available from Forge Retail Park in Telford. Dogs are allowed on this walk with the leader's prior permission, please let the leader know if you want to bring your dog.
Car sharers leave 9.30am, meet far side car park opposite Decathlon and Furniture Village, to the right of the steps under green fire assembly point sign.
The walk will start from Upton Magna Village Hall, if parking space is available at the hall or locally, please park so as not to inconvenience local users
