From The Countryman Inn, we cross the busy A352 and head across fields to reach Winfrith Newburgh. After a short stop to visit the church of St. Christopher, we follow Colehill Drove to pass Fossil Farm Shop and then re-cross the A352 heading towards Drove Hill and Winfrith Heath. After a short climb up Blacknoll Hill, from where there are views into the Winfrith Atomic Research Establishment, we return to our start point.
A mostly flat leisurely route that generally follows well defined paths and tracks, but does include some road walking. The section of the route across Winfrith Heath can be muddy and waterlogged after periods of heavy rain, so waterproof walking boots or wellingtons are recommended.
It is anticipated that we should return to The Countryman Inn at about 12 noon, following which arrangements have been made for lunch, commencing at 12.30pm, for those members who have booked.
In the event of inclement weather, the walk may be cancelled, so please check the website after 7.00pm on the Friday evening before the walk.
