Explore the paths around Kilmannan and Burncrooks Reservoirs. Climbing up Auchineden Hill and enjoying the rock formation the Whangie. On a clear day there are lovely views across Loch Lomond.
This is a car share walk. If you are a driver and are happy to bring your car please contact the leader (Sandra) as soon as possible. The number of walkers will depend on the number of cars.
If you wish to come on the walk, and are not a driver, you must contact the Leader (Sandra) in advance by email or text but not more than two weeks in advance. This is from the 11th May.
Also please provide the Leader with a mobile phone number in case arrangements change.
Walkers should not come on the walk if they have any symptoms associated with the Covid virus.
The walk starts at the car park at Edenmill Farm Shop. The path heads steadily upwards for about 2 miles to Kilmannan Reservoir where there will be a snack stop.
From there the walk joins part of the John Muir Way and meanders on an undulating path around Burncrooks Reservoir. After a further 3 miles there will be a lunch break at the end of the reservoir.
After lunch the walk will head up the hill following the tree line up and across to the Whangie. Then around the rock formation and back up to the trig point on Auchineden Hill. Time for another snack if required.
From here it’s back down to the reservoir before returning to the Edenmill Farm Shop for a well deserved coffee and possibly a cake?
While most of this walk is on Forestry Commission roads and tracks, the hill section is often muddy. Therefore boots are recommended and poles, if you use them.
