Catch the 09.35 number 65 bus from Sheffield Interchange to Calver Sough to meet by the bus stop there. The leaders will join the bus at Furnival Gate. There is plenty of parking in Calver.
The route goes from Calver Sough via Deep Rake, High Rake, Longstone Moor Farm, Wardlow and Housley into Eyam where we will stop to visit the village's 3 well-dressings. We then return to Calver via Riley Wood and The Bank.
There is a 257 bus to Sheffield from Calver at 16.28 but there is no guarantee that we will get back in time for that. In fact, there is no guarantee it will be running, as was the case when we did the recce! We will more likely catch the 17.05 number 65, which gets into Sheffield at 17.46
The walk is 11 miles. There should should be some lovely views (weather permitting!) although we are walking through what is predominantly old lead mining territory. There is very little in the way of ups and downs on the walk as once we have climbed up out of Calver Sough at the beginning, we stay up, with just a few not very steep slopes until we descend back into Calver for the end of the walk.
Anyone wishing to break off at Eyam can do so. Supposedly there are number 257 buses at 15.19 and 16.19 (the latter being the one we might catch in Calver).
