Overview

With no walks offered for this date I propose this walk of two halves and walkers can join either or both walks and do some of their Christmas shopping in between.  There is an 11.00 start to allow those coming by train or Park & Ride to reach us.

There will also be a one hour lunch break for walkers to visit the cathedral, see the Magna Carta, or visit the Salisbury Museum (excellent), or Mompesson House, or Arundells ( former home of Edward Heath) and still have time for lunch.

This walk has not been recently recced but I have done both routes many times and alternatives exist should a path be blocked.

The morning 5 miler walks out to Old Sarum, around the outside, on roads and footpaths. Can be muddy.

The afternoon 2 miler walks across the meadows from where Constable painted Salisbury Cathedral in 1831, crosses the river twice and returns to the Cathedral Close. All on hard surfaces.
