Overview

West Mendip Walkers moderate 9 mile circular walk from Wells. Starting on the Monarch Way in Wells and finishing on the East Mendip Way, the walk leaves Wells through Park Wood; we circle Worminster Down and then cross fields towards Cross Farm and Worminster. We then make our way over the dismantled railway towards Church Hill and drop down through Cliff Wood to Dinder. After a short walk on pavement along the A371, we pass through the pretty village of Dinder and make a sharp ascent past Sharcombe Park. We come out onto the East Mendip Way which we follow back into Wells, diverting briefly to walk through the iron age hill fort site in King's Castle Wood. There are a few stiles, including some difficult stone stiles. The walk is dog friendly but there may be some livestock in the fields.
