Flood warning. The Government website warns of flooding in and around Wendover. The area affected is more extensive this morning (Saturday) than it was yesterday. So although the rain has stopped, water levels have continued to rise. Both my intended route and my alternative are affected.

Overview

This walk has been cancelled.

Flood warning. The Government website warns of flooding in and around Wendover. The area affected is more extensive on Saturday than it was on Friday. So although the rain has stopped, water levels have continued to rise. Both the intended route and the alternative are affected.

The walk starts with a delightful section of the Wendover canal followed by a steady climb to the popular cafe in the woods where we'll stop for a picnic. Our gentle descent back to the canal is rewarded with fine views of the Vale of Aylesbury.  We'll visit the tranquil Weston Turville nature reserve before taking a direct route back to the tea-shops in Wendover. It has been very wet this week so good footwear is essential and a walking pole might be useful.

Bring a picnic. Optional car share from Barnet: Victor's Way Car Park, EN5 5TR, leaving 09:00 (32 miles)
