This varied walk takes in lovely autumnal colours in the beechwoods of Wendover woods. The start follows 'The Ridgeway' path. We later skirt passed an ironage hillfort; reach the highest point in the Chilterns; see beautiful views across Aylesbury Vale; pass through a peaceful churchyard with many WW2 RAF memorial graves, concluding with the tranquil Wendover Arm of the GU Canal. There are 2 steady, long climbs in the first half, but paths and tracks are mostly well defined and of a good standard, although there is one fairly steep, narrow, uneven descent. Some small areas could be muddy following wet weather. A cafe will be available at lunchtime at our summit point, although best to bring a picnic and have drinks inside the cafe as it is a popular spot.
Toilets available at Wendover Station, lunch cafe and Wendover town.
Walking poles may be helpful on uneven descent.
