An 11.3 mile figure of 8 walk starting at Wentworth Garden Centre. We walk through field to Scholes then to Kepple's Column. It's then through woods and fields to the bridge at Dog kennel Pond. Uphill brings us to the Deer Park and the Big House and then into Wentworth village for our lunch break. After lunch we take National Cycle Route 67 to Harley then a short distance along the A6135 brings us to the Trans Pennine Trail and the Barnsley Boundary Walk which we follow to Elsecar Nature Reserve. It's then uphill back to our start point via Kings Wood and Clay Field.
At the Garden Centre please park at the top end of the large carpark. Parking free. Toilets available in the garden centre. Probable pub stop in Wentworth Village at lunch time. Toilets also available at Elsecar Nature Reserve in the afternoon. Quite a few stiles on sections of the walk but generally ok for dogs. Walk may be muddy in places.
Walkers are reminded it is their responsibility to wear appropriate footwear/clothing, bring adequate food and drink and carry emergency contact details. Go to the Walks/Information for Walkers tab for more details.
