Overview

We will begin this walk from the Queens view car park. As we ascend to the Whangie the view opens up to a fantastic panorama of Ben Lomond and the Arrochar Alps. When we reach the Whangie we will have a break, before descending to Burncrooks reservoir. Once we have completed the circuit of the reservoir it will be time for lunch. To complete the walk we will climb to the trig point on Auchineden hill at 357m before the descending to the car park.

The Whangie

Legend would have it that the Devil himself created the split in the rocks with a flick of his tail as he was late for a meeting with his witches.

The geological explanation for the split in the rock is that it was created by ' glacial plucking '
