A scenic walk along the West Highland Way from Crianlarich to the little ferry at Ardleish. The route follows the River Falloch and half way along you will get a glimpse of the Falls of Falloch through the trees. The hills on either side of Glen Falloch add to the sense of being in the highlands surrounded by nature in all its glory. The paths are good but a little uneven in parts so boots are advised. It’s likely there will plenty of other walkers doing the WHW. When we arrive at the Drovers Inn you will have the option of stopping here and catching a bus back to Glasgow outside the Inn. Another 2 miles will take you to the ferry point at Ardleish on the east shore of Loch Lomond. This section is covered in ferns and the path narrows considerably. Beware of ticks! The ferry is a small boat run by Ardlui Hotel. It takes about 8 people at a time on a 10 min trip over to the hotel for about £5 each.
Hopefully we’ll have time for a refreshment in the hotel bar before catching the bus back to Glasgow from the stop just outside.
If you wish to come on the walk you must contact the leader by email, text or phone call but no more than 2 weeks in advance (24th April ) and please provide a contact number in case arrangements change.
Please notify the leader if you wish to meet at the walk start point or catch the train/bus further on route.
Walkers should not come if they have any covid symptoms.
Meet at 08:30am near the information board, Buchanan St Bus Station in order to catch the 915 Uig bus to Crianlarich which leaves at 08:45am
The bus stops outside the Crianlarich Hotel opposite the car park and toilet block. The walk will start from here at approx 10:30.
We should be in the Ardlui Hotel no latter than 16:30. There are buses (977 service) from outside the hotel at 15:56, 16:56 and 17:46. There is also a train service to Glasgow from Ardlui.
