Whilst we have the longer summer days, we have the opportunity to travel slightly further afield to explore the delights of the western Cotswolds and the Cotswold escarpment at Cleeve common overlooking Cheltenham and beyond to the Welsh mountains.
Todays walk will start in the medieval town of Winchcombe (Approx 40 miles from Oxford Centre or 30 ish miles from Witney), where the Car Park is just £1 for the whole day.
Our walk will take us from Winchcombe and up to Cleeve Common the highest point in the Cotswolds at 330m.

Cleeve Common is a conservation area and Site of Special Scientific Interest for its geology, habitats and botany and our walk will include the Prestbury Hill Butterfly Reserve see

After the Butterfly Reserve we will begin our return to Winchcombe, either via Belas Knap or if there is hot sunshine! then we will divert via woodland for some shade.
Many of our Sunday walks are Approx. 1000 to 1200 ft of ascent.
Todays ascent is a little more at 1400ft and so it is graded as strenuous, however it should still be well within the capabilities of our regular Sunday walkers.
We will also take plenty of breaks, especially if it is hot.
Meet from 10.15 for a 10.30 start.
Please bring plenty of drinks and a sandwich or snacks for lunch.
Well behaved dogs on short leads are welcome.
