Mainly using the Limestone Way, we walk from Winster Bank Top through typical lead mining areas, with the typical White Peak drystone wawlls, to the town of Bonsall. Bonsall had 'T'Owd Man', the earliest known depiction of a lead miner, with his pick and bucket, before it was removed to Wirksworth church. We will avoid dropping down towards the Via Gellia woods, which can be very muddy.
The group does not stop at cafes or pubs for lunch, and you should bring enough food and drinks with you to last the whole walk. We have a short coffee break an hour or so into the walk, and stop for packed lunch around 1230-1300, although weather and a suitable location affect both timings.
Risk assessment: The walk leader has assessed this walk for the following risks, but during the walk others may become evident. You WILL come across, stiles and gates. You MAY come across rocky sections, muddy/slippery sections of path, inclement weather, farm livestock & warning signs. You should remain stay alert and take individual responsibility.
