From the traditional old lead-mining town of Wirksworth we venture higher to include Cromford Moor, the ascent to the viewpoint at Middleton Top, part of the High Peak Trail, and the traditional working village of Middleton. The route offers a variety of scenery, with the possibility of good views over Cromford,
The group does not stop at cafes or pubs for lunch, and you should bring enough food and drinks with you to last the whole walk. We usually stop for a coffee break an hour or so into the walk, and stop for packed lunch around 1230-1300 although weather and a suitable location will affect both timings.
Risk assessment: The walk leader has assessed this walk for the following risks, but during the walk others may become evident. You are asked to be remain alert and take individual responsibility. You will probably come across stiles, gates and other footpath furniture, hedges, pinch points. You may come across steep or rocky trails, muddy/slippery/flooded sections of path, inclement weather, farm livestock & warning signs.
