Walk starts from the free car park of Bradberry Balk Lane, Wombwell. Heading towards Manvers on the Dove Valley Trail (DVT)/TPT then along the disused Brampton Canal which is part of the Barnsley Boundary Walk (BBW). We then follow footpaths with some road walking to the car park at Wombwell Wood passing over and under the A6195 Dearne Valley Way. Its then through farmland to Blacker Hill and through woodland to Worsbrough Mill after crossing the A61. Lunch at Worsbrough Mill where the cafe may be open and a bit further up the road the Ship Inn for those desperate for a pint. Its then back onto the DVT/TPT to Swaithe Bridge then its through fields to the A633 then back onto the DVT/TPT to our start point.
To get to the start point follow the A633 of the Dearne Valley Way. You will negotiate several roundabouts. Turn right at the roundabout with the Lidl supermarket on the right. Follow this road for about 300m and you will see the car park on the right. The Lidl sign says toilets are available, suggest if you decide to use them you do so before driving to the start point. Toilets are available at the Worsbrough Mill lunch stop. The Ship Inn is about 500m up the A61 from Worsbrough Mill, it is open on a Tuesday. Cafe at Worsbrough Mill may or may not be open. Dogs should be ok on this walk, not to many awkward stiles
Walkers are reminded it is their responsibility to wear appropriate footwear/clothing, bring adequate food and drink and carry emergency contact details. Go to the Walks/Information for Walkers tab for more details.
