This is a linear walk. We will take the 10.06 train from Wootton Wawen to Stratford Parkway and walk back from there. It is a generally level walk through the Arden countryside. We will follow parts of the Arden and Monarch's Ways. The walk takes us alongside the Stratford canal, through fields, meadows - many of them fallow, woodland and alongside the little River Alne. We will go through two pretty villages - Wilmcote, which was the home of Shakespeare's mother (coffee stop), and Aston Cantlow, where she married John Shakespeare (lunch stop). The walk will end at Warwickshire's oldest church with its fascinating Saxon sanctuary.
We will follow pavements, field and woodland paths - some nice and wide, some quite narrow (sticks recommended) and a section of lane.
Toilets at Stratford Parkway, otherwise rural.
There are just 5 stiles and one small hill.
