What we do
Led walks
While many people, including many of our members who belong to support our other work that benefits all walkers, like to walk independently, others prefer to walk in groups either to enjoy the company or to benefit from the services of an experienced leader. If you join one of our groups you will be able to walk with not just that group but any of over 500 groups across Great Britain. This is the ideal way to see new places and make new friends.
Protecting rights of way
The many threats to the footpath network include landowners, developers, railway companies, off-roading vehicles and vegetation growth. Our volunteers, of whom there are never enough, work with great tenacity to counter these threats either through practical path maintenance or by engaging in the complex legal processes in which we have particular expertise.
Few other walking organisations have this capability, and we urge you to join us to support this work even if you walk with another group or independently. Please also consider becoming one of our volunteers.
Promoting walking
We use our comprehensive knowledge of Kent’s walking opportunities to help others enjoy the best routes available. We do this by publishing a selection of our favourite walks on our website and by publishing printed guides to some of Kent’s many fine long-distance paths.
