Walking in South & West Cornwall

Our South & West Group covers all of Cornwall west of Newquay, including the Lizard peninsula. The Cornwall section of the SW coast path encompasses roughly half of its entire 630 mile length so there is plenty of beautiful coast to explore ! The north coast is rugged and wild while the south tends to be more gentle and green but beware of generalities, our great variety of landscapes mean that there are challenging and easy hikes to be found along the entire coastline.

Not only are there lovely estuaries and beaches, stunning cliffs and small harbours to visit, our inland paths offer an incredible variety. Please come explore West Penwith an ancient landscape of moors and mystery with over 800 archaeological sites many with a distinctly Celtic feel. Everywhere you will see towering Wheal houses evidence of historic mining and an important aspect of Cornwall cultural heritage. There are many paths through these sites, indeed many of them were used/created by miners walking to work. Our rural character is most closely experienced by following the extensive rights-of-way paths through fertile green fields and heather strewn moors.

Cornwall South & West Ramblers offer at least one leader guided walk every week varying in distance from 5-14 miles with most lying in the 8-9 mile range: most are graded easy or moderate. These walks run all year round so please come join us for a day to experience our beautiful countryside. There is also a Cornwall Coast path walk each month.

If you would like information about joining, please get in touch with us using the contact details on this page. We look forward to welcoming you to our group and walking with you.
