What we do
Volunteer with us
Would you like to share your favourite walk? Why not become a walk leader for North Beds Ramblers. We are very happy to mentor new walk leaders with training available on line through the Ramblers and free training courses.
Are you interested in steering the direction of the group? Why not join our committee and contribute to the smooth running of our group.
Volunteers from North Beds Ramblers and volunteers from other local Ramblers groups work with Bedford Borough Council and Central Beds Council helping to maintain our local footpaths.
This is known as RIPPLE (Restoring & Improving Public Paths for Local Enjoyment), volunteers help clear overgrown footpaths, restore marker posts and build/mend stiles etc. Full training is given on the use of any equipment.
Please use our contact form to ask for further information on volunteering opportunities.
Reporting Footpath Problems
Often we see problems on footpaths that need fixing or rights of way that need clearing so that they are accessible to all. Both Bedford and Centrals Beds boroughs have areas on their websites where you can report an issue that needs attending to.
Bedford Borough
https://www.bedford.gov.uk/parking-roads-and-travel/public-rights-way/public-rights-way-overview
When you have gone to the web address above you can either register an issue as a guest or you can create an account with the borough.
Once on the Public rights of way page you can click on the Report a problem on a public right of way button shown below. From there respond to the instructions asking for details. You will also be able to load any photos that you have saved from your camera/phone.
Central Bedfordshire Borough
https://www.centralbedfordshire.gov.uk/info/82/countryside/431/rights_of_way
Just like the Beds Borough website once on the page you can click on the Report a problem link and then follow the instructions on how to register the issue.
Please use our contact form to ask for further information.
