Overview

Our Dawlish walks are some of the most established walks in the area and offer three grades of intensity and duration to suit most people, taking from 40 to 90 minutes approximately for each walk grade. All groups meet at the same place so you can decide on the day which grade you feel up to. Walks are very sociable and take place in and around the beautiful coastal town and seaside resort of Dawlish. They may also include local parks, woodlands, and nature reserves. There are pauses along the way to take in the scenery, flora & fauna, learn about local history, or to simply rest for a moment. Our regular friendly group walks, often with a cuppa at some point, are at the heart of Walk This Way Wellbeing Walks. Teignbridge Wellbeing Walks have three grades of walks to choose from depending on how you feel and your ability. Grade 1 walks are suitable for most abilities. Please arrive approximately 10 minutes ahead of walk start times especially if you are a new walker to the group. We recommend wearing sturdy comfortable footwear. A Walker 'sign-up' can be completed before taking part in the walks, either in advance or at your first walk. We suggest walkers carry an ICE card (In Case of Emergency) with information to include your name, your emergency contact name & their contact number. Meet at the Piazza on the Green at 10.15am , close to the (now closed) Tourist Information Centre. EX7 9PW. Parking (charges) and public toilets nearby.

All walks are sociable and welcome anyone who would like to enjoy the company of others whilst enjoying a walk outdoors to enhance their sense of wellbeing. Walks sometimes take longer than the guidelines below as we pause to take in the environment.

Grade 1 walks, suitable for people who have not walked much previously but would like to become more active, or are returning to activity after injury or illness. Usually around 30-40 minutes duration on flat terrain of mainly firm surfaces, possibly with gentle slopes. Accessible to pushchairs, wheelchairs and mobility aids.

Grade 2 walks suitable for people who would like to increase their activity levels. 30 - 60 minutes duration approximately. May include some moderate slopes, uneven surfaces, steps and possibly stiles.

Grade 3 walks, suitable for those who are up to taking part in a walk that is a little more challenging as they might include steeper slopes, steps, uneven surfaces and stiles.  With a duration of 45 to 90 minutes these walks will also add to improving endurance and stamina as well as overall wellbeing.
