We are fortunate in Stretford to have the Mersey Valley running East to West and the Bridgewater Canal running North to South giving us access to a variety of walks in all directions of the compass. The recycled Stretford Meadows is hunting ground for Buzzards and Kestrels whilst the River Mersey and associated streams may provide a glimpse of a Kingfisher. Sale Water Park is home to a variety of wild fowl including great crested grebes. You are likely to hear the shriek of a ring-collared parakeet almost anywhere.
We run two walks every week. The ‘medium’ is around three to four miles and ‘long’ is four to five miles. On the first and third weeks only we add a slower short walk of two to three miles. Refreshments are available after the walks in one of the many cafés and coffee bars in the Stretford Mall which also provides free three hour parking.
