Part of a series of seasonal Well-being Walks.
A beautiful Welcoming Spring Well-being Walk through Ely Country Park and along Ely Riverside. The walk will take between 45-60 minutes at a moderate but occasionally invigorating pace.
The scenic walk includes Springhead Lane, an ancient tree lined path, which supports a wide variety of wildlife and fauna. You'll have the opportunity to view lots of wildlife, birds, swans and even the riverside cattle. We will continue back along the riverside to take in the season, nature and time for ourselves.
During the walk we will take a 5 minute mindful pause, where I will introduce some mindfulness thoughts. Learning to enjoy switching off the busy mind, quieten our internal thoughts and use our senses to take in everything around us in the present. This will also be perfect time to consider some Spring Well-being intentions for yourself.
The walks are as much about connection and conversations, as they are about physical activity. You'll enjoy meeting others as well as feeling a boost of feel good endorphins from the walk itself. The group will be welcoming and very friendly. We will look after each other as a walking group.
Following the walk there is an option to stay for tea/coffee and refreshment at either Prosper Coffee Shop (Broad Street) or Peacocks Tea Room (along the riverside).
Meeting Point
The group will gather at FRESH Studios (16-18 Broad Street Ely) at 11:30 a.m. to begin the walk at 11:45 a.m.
You can also join us en-route at the second meeting point, that the group will reach at 11:55 a.m.
Second Meeting Point (11:55): The Country Park Map, The Fisherman's Car Park - Ely Country Park
Accessible from Willow Walk. If using the 'What three words' location app, the Country Park Meeting Point is located at ///love.glitter.sunbeam
Connection & Chat
For those who wish to stay on we will enjoy a cuppa and a chat at the end of the walk back at FRESH which is also the home of the lovely Prosper Coffee Shop. We can enjoy chatting together and perhaps set a few Springtime healthy wellbeing intentions for ourselves for the season ahead.
These walks are for active walkers at a moderate to brisk pace. We will always walk to the needs of the group coming along and are a really friendly and supportive group.
The paths are a combination of paved, muddy/woodchip and forest walks. They can be rather muddy so it's recommended that you wear walking shoes or trainers that you don't mind getting wet/dirty.
We will walk in all weathers, so please do bring waterproof jacket and a hat or cap. Of course also bring any other clothing suitable for the weather conditions.
If the walk is particularly cold and rainy, we will check in with the group that they are all comfortable before we head off and may cut the walk shorter if required. Of course we will always have our cuppa and chat in the cafe.
Ely Wildspaces
Depending on the walk we will pass through some of Ely's Wildspaces including: The Water Lily Pit, Riverside Banks, Views of Roswell Pits, Riverside Meadows, Ely Common and Wildflower Meadow (Kingfisher Walk). You can view more about Ely Widspaces here: www.elywildspace.org.uk
Parking Options
Other options for parking include Ship Lane Car Park, Broad Street Car Park or the rear of Sainsbury's Car park. Please be mindful if using the Sainsbury's car park that there is a timed limit for return to your vehicle.
Toilets are located at Ship Lane Car Park and at Sainsbury's. Of course there are also toilets at Prosper Coffee Shop and Peacocks Tea Room and we usually head to one of these after the walk.
