Overview

Smartphone Photography Walk - Millom - Saturday 2nd September 2023 11am - 1pm, Millom

A FREE guided walk and tutorial with experienced, published photographers from Millom NEW LIBRARY AT the Millom Hub, Salthouse Road, Millom LA18 5AB to Millom Castle and Norman Holy Trinity Church, returning along Gypsy Field and Aggie's Lonnin.

The walk is just over 3km but will be done at a slow pace to allow for Photography and discussion. There will be a break at Holy Trinity Church (Toilet available) for more photography of the ancient building and atmospheric churchyard.

The route is on pavements and hardened surfaces. There are several narrow pedestrian gates making the route difficult for mobility scooters.

Farm stock may be present in the fields so unfortunately, this is not a walk suitable for dogs even on leads as walkers will need to concentrate on photography rather than pets.

A sociable event for photographers of all abilities to improve results with smartphones. Whether it is correcting wonky snaps or fighting against the phone algorithms to achieve stunning rather than OK photos, there is something for everyone.

And a short walk in attractive countryside with spectacular views to the high fells and the Duddon Estuary as well as a visit to the ancient and beautiful Holy Trinity Church. See what images JMW Turner caught on his visit.

Having trouble capturing good skies? When Wordsworth visited Millom, he found "An ampler sky, a region wide ..." come and capture that...
