Why volunteer
What you will gain from volunteering
Volunteering is at the heart of the Ramblers
Without people like you coming forward, we simply would not be able to achieve so much in the countryside, and in our green & urban spaces.
Help us make that difference by bringing your enthusiasm and getting stuck in. We welcome people whatever your age, background or experience.
Make a difference
By volunteering your time and sharing your skills, you’re making a big difference to the things that matter most to walkers. This might include finding lost paths, leading walks or helping to protect access to our beautiful countryside.
Meet like-minded people
This is a chance to meet people who can inspire you and to build new friendships. You’ll receive a warm welcome and support from like-minded volunteers and a dedicated staff team equally passionate about walking and the outdoors.
Learn new skills and knowledge
Through volunteering, you can learn new skills and use your existing skills in different ways, building confidence in areas that you’d like to develop for personal or professional reasons.
Gain a new hobby or interest
There’s no one way to ramble. You’ll have the opportunity to try new activities in a safe and supportive environment, all the while helping to maintain and protect the places we all love to walk.
Making sure you have a great experience.
We want to ensure you have a positive and rewarding experience volunteering with the Ramblers. We will do everything we can to support you, no matter your personal situation.
Under 18 volunteering
We welcome young people under the age of 18 to volunteer with us. But we do need a parent or legal guardian’s approval.
If you can’t find what you’re looking for or would like to get in touch you can contact us at volunteersupport@ramblers.zendesk.com

Campaign with us - protect the places we walk
Walking is a simple pleasure that should be open to everyone, so we campaign to remove barriers to walking and we protect the places we love to wander.
