Will you help protect Britain’s precious paths this summer?

Our paths are a network of connections: to each other, to the nature on our doorstep and to all the generations that walked them before us. They are a national treasure that must be protected for everyone to enjoy – both now and in the future.

But, too often, they are overlooked, underloved, and under threat. And to change that, we need your help.

In almost 32,000 places in England and Wales, paths are blocked or obstructed, preventing us from enjoying all the benefits of the outdoors.

And without the 4,000 frontline Ramblers volunteers, the situation would be much worse.

Every day across England, Scotland and Wales, Ramblers teams are getting stuck in on the ground, clearing vegetation and fixing broken gates and bridges.

And that's not all: they are also holding landowners and local authorities to account when they are neglecting their duty to maintain and allow access to paths and rights of way.

But we don't just fight for paths on the ground. When we need to, we take legal action when a path is threatened with permanent closure, or a major obstruction like a fenced-off path has failed to be removed. All the while, our campaigners are putting pressure on local and national governments to get paths prioritised and ensure there is a long-term plan and funding for them.

We rely on the generosity of people like you to carry out this crucial work.

Anything you can give today will make a huge difference.

  • £10 could help equip our path maintenance volunteers with crucial kit and tools to clear blocked paths
  • £20 could help recruit and train more path maintenance volunteers to help keep more paths open and accessible to the public
  • £100 could help fund the repair or replacement of stiles, steps, and signage on a neglected path
  • £1,000 could help pay for legal casework and challenges when a local authority or landowner has failed to unblock a public right of way
