This easy and almost flat walk explores the pleasantly wooded countryside around Brampton. A circular walk from Talkin Tarn to Brampton uses a network of quiet country roads, a disused railway line and good paths and tracks.
NB - on 30/11/24 there was a road closed sign on the B6413, out of Castle Carrock, towards Cumrew, Newbiggin and Croglin.
The Capon Tree memorial marks the scene of historical hangings. The inside of St Martin’s Church, especially the stained glass, is worth a look. Lunch will probably be in another historical (early 1900s) building - the Howard Memorial Shelter.
