Walk details
Today’s circular walk will take us past the historical buildings of Crofton Pumping Station and Wilton Windmill, which starts and ends at the station in Great Bedwyn. Starting here, we’ll follow the road towards the River Avon, which we’ll walk along towards Crofton Pumping station. We’ll then follow the Mid Wilts Way into Wilton village, where we’ll then walk past Wilton Windmill. Shortly after this, we’ll walk through a forested area and past a Queen Elizabeth II memorial. After this, we’ll walk along some more footpaths and through another forested area as we walk along the Long Walk. At the end of this, we then follow onto another footpath to take us back to the River Avon, and this should take you past Little Bedwyn and eventually back into Great Bedwyn. For those who want a pint at the end of the walk, we’ll be stopping off at The Three Tuns, which is only a 5-minute walk from the station.
