Overview

Kennet and Avon canal, Ufton Green and Padworth College. A walk of two halves - a transport route along the canal and the river Kennet and a rural route between settlements across fields and by a mill. The train replaced the canal and the railway line follows the route of the canal very closely in places. It is possible to join this walk by train as at the time of planning this walk a train from Reading arrives at Aldermaston station at 9.55. If planning to join this walk by train, please note that services on a Sunday are infrequent and you may have to plan to wait for a suitable return train. There is a pub and a cafe in Aldermaston Wharf. Car parking for this walk is available off Mallard Way (what3words headrest.feathers.sometimes), road side parking along the road outside the station and in the station car park (pay by phone).
