A flat walk along the Kennet & Avon canal, as far as the Oracle (7 miles), or to the point where the Kennet and Avon flows into the Thames (8.5 miles). Park at Theale station and return by train from Reading (12 & 33 mins past the hour), or travel both ways by train, catching the 10:12 from Reading, arriving at Theale at 10:20. Note that the mileages quoted are the total mileages from Theale station to Reading station.
Bring a packed lunch.
Estimated finish time for the 7 mile walk is 2:30. Add 45 minutes for the longer walk.
Meet in the Theale Railway Station car park
The walk finishes at the Oracle (7 miles Theale station to Reading station) but you may want to walk for another mile or so to to the actual end of the canal where it joins the Thames (8.5 miles Theale station to Reading station) Estimated finish time for the 7 mile walk is 2:30.
