Walking in and around Oldham
The Oldham Group, located on the edge of the Peak District, enjoy walking in our local area and surrounding countryside, often venturing into Lancashire, Derbyshire, Yorkshire and Cheshire and and are active in protecting the places we like to walk.
Our activities include short and easy walks, moderate walks along with footpath maintenance.
You are very welcome to join us for a walk or two, before becoming a member of the Ramblers. Just turn up at the start point with your boots, waterproofs, lunch and a drink.
All our walks are guided by a leader and the routes are checked beforehand. All walks comply with current Ramblers Coronavirus guidance.
Throughout the year we offer:
-
Walks on Sundays - moderate (5 to 7 miles).
-
Longer walks Saturdays/Sundays - moderate/strenuous (10 to 12 miles)
-
One walk on Wednesdays - a pub walk, a short and easy walk or a moderate walk.
-
5 Milers - leisurely walks under 5 miles.
-
A footpath clearance team.
-
Liaison with the local authority regarding footpath matters.
The walks listings explain where to meet with a start time - there is no need to book.
Registered Assistance Dogs are welcome on all walks, all other dogs are allowed at the discretion of the walk leader - please check in advance.
