Overview

The final part of the Annandale Way, with guaranteed good views. Starting off from the car park at the southern end of Moffat (just after the Annan Bridge) we follow the infant River Annan northwards along a path before a joining a quiet road.  We then turn onto a smaller road and cross the river for the last time. The road peters out and we begin our ascent proper eventually before (very carefully, as it can be very busy!) crossing the A701. A short wooded path then leads to a climb up the western flanks of Ericstane Hill before dropping down and following the A701 for a short distance until we start to ascend up towards the trig point on Annandale Hill. We then follow an undulating route eastwards before starting to descend along the waters of Tweed Hope and Tweedhope Burn. At Ericstane we again walk along a long section of road, rejoining our original route just north of Bridgend. As we arrive at the A701 bridge, we will deviate from the official path to return to the car park via Moffat town centre.

There are shops, toilets and cafes in Moffat but none en route.
