Alnwick is a market town in Northumberland, on the south bank of the River Aln and dates back to about AD 600. The name Alnwick comes from the Old English wic ('dairy farm, settlement') and the name of the river Aln. In previous walks we have approached Alnwick via Warkworth Moor, Longframlington Common, and have been able to walk through the Percy estates’ Hulne park, where there are some wonderful metasequoia trees (the dawn redwood.)
Our coach will drop parties of walkers and leaders from their starting point and all walks will finish at our destination today.
There will be a choice of walks - graded Easy, Leisurely, Moderate and Strenuous for you to choose from.
Details of the walks will be available from our webpage and will also be passed round the coach on the day.
