Kirkby Stephen a traditional market town of historic buildings, cobbled yards, quaint corners is located in the beautiful Upper Eden valley, formerly the old county of Westmorland, now Cumbria. There are breathtaking views in every direction and it is part of the Yorkshire Dales National Park. To the south of Kirkby Stephen is Pendragon Castle, reputed home of Uther Pendragon, father of King Arthur, but in actual fact a Norman stronghold. Mallerstang gives access to Wild Boar Fell where, legend tells us, the last known wild boar in England was killed by Sir Richard Musgrave in the early 15th century. There is also access to Lady Anne’s Way. You are spoiled for choice.
